Living With Your Ancestors
When it comes to helping you dealing with modern problems, the Ancestors have a voice, not a vote. Following tradition is fine, but it shouldn't override a good idea.
While we should always listen to our Ancestors, their advice really should be taken with a small Siberian salt mine.
They are a product of the times they lived in, with most of the prejudices and misconceptions of those times.
And in many ways, for much of recent history, their world was simplier and more straight forward. They had far fewer options to have to choose from.
There was a time when a person could know all there was to know. That was back around early 1700s. Since then, the amount to know has doubled every year. We are drowning in the information ocean with no land in sight.
Also, just because they're dead, it doesn't mean they're any smarter than when they were alive. If good old uncle Ernie was a box of rocks while alive, it's not terribly likely they're any smarter for having past on.
When it comes to navigating this modern world, the Ancestors are just as bewildered as we are. So their tap on your shoulder might mean "Good job!", but is just as likely to mean "What the hell was that!?"
