Very few folk religion spirits or deities are just benevolent. Instead they are complex mix of "good" and "bad".

When we say "good" or "bad" we are talking about how their actions affect humans.

Many spirits and deities are non-human or other if you prefer. They do what they do for their reasons, and ascribing human motives to them is senseless and even dangerous.

So yes we can on occaision interact with them, but — and this is a big but — we need to be constantly aware that they are non-human and their responses will be such.

Contact their "rough" side or get on their "bad" side, and prepare for a bit of a wild ride. The best you can do is appease their wrath.
